"I was sitting outside a 7/11 on a Friday night in Koh Phangan with a friend, trying to hitchhike a ride back to where we were staying. That's when I first met Mahdi.
He pulled over, recognizing us from an event earlier that evening, and asked if we were okay. Laughing, we told him we were just looking for a ride. He said he wished he could help, but he was having trouble with the bike he was renting.
He pulled away... only to return to us a minute later
He said he couldn't leave us girls out there alone in the middle of the night.
